Fibrex vs Vinyl

Searching for your new replacements means weighing in the benefits of energy efficiency, customization, and performance. Renewal by Andersen created it’s own product – called Fibrex – to provide excellence in each of these 3 areas. Your replacement windows should help you save on your utilities, last through extreme high and low temperatures, and enhance the decor of your home. In addition to Fibrex frames, we use low E4 glass panes to reduce airflow and keep your house a comfortable temperature.

How do our windows stand apart from vinyl windows?

  • vinyl

    Vinyl Windows

Vinyl is a popular, mass produced material that is simple to find in home improvement stores. Although it may be an inexpensive quick fix for older frames, vinyl is less durable and typically comes in white. It is low maintenance and easy to clean, but warps and stretches in extreme temperatures.

    Wood Windows

Wood, on the other hand, is more expensive and better looking. Although it is strong enough to hold its shape, it eventually rots, molds, or peels requiring additional chemical treatments.

Each of these materials has its own set of pro’s and con’s, and Renewal by Andersen decided to create a polymer that encompassed each of their benefits while eliminating weaknesses.

Fibrex combines the strength, durability, and appearance of wood with the low maintenance qualities of vinyl. It is easy to customize and can be manufactured in the color of your choice. Because of its unmatched strength, Fibrex withstands dark, heat intensive staining processes that most materials cannot. No matter which color you choose for your energy efficient windows, it is simple to customize in the design and style of your choice.

Fibrex is a composite mixture of 40% pulverized wood fiber and 60% thermoplastic pvc polymers. This blend provides more than twice the strength that vinyl offers which resists erosion and adequately supports the weight of multiple panes of glass. In addition to the added durability, it also provides a higher level of energy efficiency, noise reduction, and dependable functionality. Feel confident tilting the sashes out for cleaning knowing that no components are fragile enough to break, even down to the locking mechanisms.
